Phone and Mail Scams

While the Internet can be filled with new and dangerous threats, phone and mail scams have not gone away. Even if a fraudulent scheme does not originate by postal mail, the U.S. Postal Inspectors can still investigate the fraud if scheme uses postal mail.

The USPS website contains mail fraud information and more. The site includes ways file a complaint, get off mailing lists, and learn about scams. https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov

Phone scams can be reduced by not giving out information such as credit card number and social security number unless you have a business relationship with a company and have initiated the call. If you have received a suspicious call, don't be afraid to ask for the person's name and tell them you will call them back at the business's telephone number, not a number that the suspcious person provides.
